Sometimes life can simply be about making better choices. If you are anything like me, dieting can seem like an all-or-nothing process. If we are doing well on a diet, Great! But if we mess up, it’s all over, and we might as well give up and try again later. We are so hard on ourselves! In what other areas do we expect such rigid perfection? None!

We need to retrain our thinking and realize that it is not really about dieting, it’s about making better choices for life. Making small changes in your daily routine can make a measurable difference. Chose baked vs. fried. Add a vegetable. Gradually increase activity, and make it fun. You don’t have to begin tomorrow by working out for 60 minutes a day, and never having the foods you love. Instead, take a 10 minute walk, play Wii tennis, or dance in your living room to your 3 favorite dance songs. If you really want a certain food, say a piece of cake, eat a small piece of really good cake and totally enjoy it! Then, you can move on from it. It’s not the end, because it’s not a “diet.” You are allowing yourself to enjoy food, sensibly.
What small choice can you make today to improve your life for good?
